APPLE CRUMBLE PIE RECIPE

Ingredients

For the crust and crumble:

  • 2 cups ground oats
  • 5 Tbsp coconut oil (or butter or margarine)
  • 4 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup or honey 

For the filling:

  • 4 sweet apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil

Instructions


Preheat & Prep Apples
Preheat your oven to 350°F.


For the Crust
Grind oats in a food processor. Add coconut oil, and maple syrup  and pulse. Add water 1 Tbsp at a time and pulse again. The crust should be sticky and crumbly.


Cover the surface of a springform pan with coconut oil, pour 2/3 of the crust dough. Start pressing the dough from the middle to edges of the pan, working your way up with your fingers


For the Filling

Chop apples and saute them for 3-5 minutes at medium-high in a large non-stick pan with coconut oil & cinnamon. Let the filling cool off for 5 minutes, then spread it over the crust.


Using the rest of the dough, form crumbles with your fingers and put on top of the pie. Optional: top  pie with pecans, walnuts or any other type of nuts.



Bake & Enjoy
Bake at 350 F for 20-30 minutes, until the crust becomes golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!
